Pakistan Cricket Board turns down Muhammad Amir’s accusations - Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lashed out at Muhammad Amir for the accusations made by the youngster about the board.
Amir on Thursday, November 3, claimed that PCB did not educate them properly about the International Cricket Council's (ICC) code of conduct that also includes anti-corruption codes, which the left-arm pacer has been found guilty
of breaching.
PCB officials in a statement revealed that every player who is issued a central contract has to sign code of conduct, which is provided in both English and Urdu languages. A player signing the contract agrees to abide by ICC rules
and Amir did the same.
Turning down Amir’s allegations, PCB officials argued, “In March 2010 Amir signed the code of conduct for players when he was issued his central contract. The code of conduct clearly states that by signing the same the player commits
to abiding by all ICC rules regarding betting match fixing, corruption. Amir acknowledged that he understood the code and his responsibilities under the same.”   
The representatives of PCB further divulged that Amir is no alien to anti-corruption policy of ICC, as he has represented Pakistan in number of ICC events and every player taking part in the events has to attend anti-corruption
lectures.
“Amir participated in a number of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 tournaments including the U-19 World Cup and two Twenty20 World Cups where he attended anti-corruption lectures. Before any international tour, of which Amir was a part of as well, the team
management gives a number of lectures to the players warning them of the dangers of associating with strangers,” maintained PCB officials.
The 19-year-old Amir pleaded guilty of conspiring with English bookie, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in 2010. The left-arm pacer bowled no-balls in Lord’s Test on the demand of Majeed, who in return handed him
loads of cash.
Apart from Amir, former skipper of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-Butt-c2418 and right-arm pacer Muhammad Asif also took part in the dastardly act and as per the ruling of Southwark Crown Court all three cricketers will serve sometime for the committed
crime.
Amir will be spending six months in young offender’s institution while his accomplices will be behind bars with Asif serving one year and Butt for two and a half year.
