Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman, Ijaz Butt, condemns Shahid Afridi’s comments
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sahibzada-Mohammad-Shahid-Khan-Afridi-c87933, while announcing his retirement from international cricket on 30th May, were against the code of conduct.
Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket later on Monday, saying http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472hat he can’t play under the board that doesn’t give due respect to their players.
Butt, while talking to the media, said that no one has stopped Afridi from playing and he was even included in the squad for the two-match ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 but he refused citing that his father was facing some health issue.
Afridi said that he will continue playing domestic and league cricket but not international cricket until Butt is removed from the board.
"I don't want to work with such disgraceful people”, said Afridi.
The 31-year-old represented http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Mohali.
Afridi displayed an outstanding bowling performance there and became the top-wicket taker of the tournament, claiming 21 wickets.
Following the mega event, the leg-spinner represented his side in the five-match one-day series against West-Indies, winning the series by 3-2.
In the series, Afridi’s individual performance was anonymous, as he failed with his bat and also gave an average bowling performance.
Earlier this month, the board sacked Afridi from captaincy and replaced him with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 in Test cricket.
Afridi maintained that nothing is important to him than his self-respect. The flamboyant all-rounder said that he was not given any reason regarding his sacking. He further added that he has been trying to approach the PCB officials, including Chairman Ijaz Butt, but nobody listens to his point of view.
The former cricketer also revealed that there was a group of people in Lahore that had always been opposing him.
“Maybe they don't want me to play because I get in the way of their plans", said Afridi.
PCB http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malachy-Bernard-Loye-c73963 refused to give any comments on Afridi’s retirement, saying that his decision was unexpected.
