Pakistan Cricket Boards chairman Ijaz Butt to complete his tenure
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, the most controversial chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board has complete backing of Government as they see no reasons for dismissing the tainted chairman and want him to complete his tenure.
Butt’s decision of sacking http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 from his post as leader of Pakistani cricket team has been condemned by the media and cricket lovers all over the country. Local media tagged Butt as an incompetent person and someone is
spoiling future of cricket in Pakistan.
However, the government is unfazed by this and continues to support Butt, whose term as head of cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 will come to an end in October, 2011.
According to sources in PCB, “He will complete his tenure and there is no indication at all that the government wants to change the board chairman despite the hue and cry raised in the media over Afridi's sacking.”
Butt, former Test cricket, is considered by many as the right hand of President Asif Ali Zardari. Zardari, who is also the chief patron of the board, was the one who handed over the responsibility to the former cricketer. Butt
became PCB head on October, 2008 for term of three years.
The controversial chairman of Pakistani cricket agreement also has a clause which gives Butt the right to claim an extension but the final decision regarding the extension rests with chief patron of the board.
Sources within the PCB further revealed, “The President still has full confidence in Butt's ability to run cricket affairs and he will be in power at least until October this year after which he can also try to get an extension
if he wants from the President who is chief patron of the board.”
Butt, after canvassing Afridi maintained that his verdict was righteous. He, however, did not present the reasons for firing the former skipper. Butt promised to reveal, in near future, the circumstances which led to the dismissal
of Afridi.
PCB chairman better get ready as media is going to bombard him with loads of question as fan favourite Afridi has announced retirement from all formats of cricket and blames the management for this judgment. Afridi, however, made
clear that he willing to take back on his decision if and only if this board steps down.
