Pakistan Cricket - I want to End Career on a High Note: Younis Khan
Learning from the experiences of his predecessors, Younis Khan has decided not to make the same mistakes and mend his feuds with the Pakistan Cricket Board, leaving everything behind and concentrating on his remaining career as
he wants to end it on a high note and with grace.
The former Pakistan Captain Younis Khan has vowed to leave past troubles behind him following his clearance by the Pakistan Cricket Board to be included in the One-Day International squad for the series against South Africa
in the UAE.
Talking to reporters, Younis Khan said that he doesn’t want to end his career in an abrupt manner. “I didn’t want to end my career in a disruptive way like this, I only want to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and I don’t want to get involved
in any controversies and finish off my career with my reputation intact.”
Younis Khan, after clearing his differences with PCB Chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, trained with the rest of the squad at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The former captain looked in high spirits during the training sessions. “I am very happy
to be recalled by the Pakistan Cricket Board,” said Younis.
The stylish batsman feels confident that if he can score a few centuries in the series against South Africa, this just might be a perfect comeback for him. Younis has always been a keen player; he is perhaps one the few Pakistani
players who never give up even when they are passing through a dry season.
Younis was quick to shed away rumours that he might not be comfortable playing under another captain. “I can play under any captain as captaincy is not an issue for me.”
Younis Khan made his Test and ODI debut in 2000. He has played 63 Tests and 202 ODIs to go with his 22 Twenty20s. However, his relationship with the Chairman was one of the reasons why the former captain was the last man out of
the seven players punished by the Pakistan Cricket Board to be cleared to play again for Pakistan.
Younis, after mending his ways with the Chairman, said that it was not a big deal for him to apologize to the Chairman of the PCB; he felt that he had realized it was impossible for him to fight with the board. “If I say sorry
it’s not a big deal. I can’t fight with the chairman and I can’t fight with the board. Whatever I am is because of them. As far as my disciplinary record is concerned, I have never been fined and everyone knows me well.”
Younis proved his fitness by participating in the recently concluded domestic T20 Cup, leading the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peshawar-c832 Panthers. This also shows the ace batsman’s will to perform at any level while playing cricket.
Younis said, “When I was recalled for the Australian Tour earlier this year, I went there after playing just one domestic match, but now I have played county cricket for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 and the domestic T20 Cup, so I am prepared for my
international return mentally.”
Younis Khan will definitely be the backbone of the Pakistani batting line-up in the UAE series against the mighty http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 (scheduled to start on the 26th of October). All eyes are going to be on him, and only time
will tell if Younis will be able to take this pressure on his shoulders and score for his country once again.
