Pakistan’s former one-day captain Shahid Afridi in an interview has revealed that he is seriously considering making a comeback in the national team now that Coach Waqar Younis will be leaving.
“I want to play for my country again. My main dispute and problem was with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 but now that he is going I am hopeful the situation will improve in the team,” he said while talking to media men on Saturday, September 17, 2011.
Afridi, who had quit international cricket in protest after being stripped from his captaincy has now shown flexibility in his attitude as on previous occasions he had blasted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for taking Waqar’s side and had in numerous interviews
clarified that he would not be returning to play cricket for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 was the chairman of the PCB.
However, on Saturday the 31-year-old did not criticise Butt, and insisted that he had problems with Younis only.
Meanwhile, he has said that he will be making his final decision public in a month’s time and from the way things look right now it seems that he will be reverting his retirement decision.
Revealing details about his feud with Waqar, Afridi said, “There were serious differences between us because he used to interfere in the captain's domain and on selection issues. My main grouse was with him. He is now going and things will change."
Before Pakistan’s tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, Waqar Younis made a startling announcement that he will not be resuming his duties as the national coach after the conclusion of the tour because of personal reasons that included his health. According to him the PCB had
accepted his resignation and he was not forced to stay by the board.
Earlier this year, Afridi had developed estranged relationship with the touring management during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 on the selection of the playing eleven.
Pakistan won the five-match one-day series by 3-2, however, after his return home the flamboyant Afridi revealed the existence of bad blood between him and the management. This was considered as a violation of PCB’s code of conduct since the board prohibits
the players from giving interviews without its consent.
Consequently, Afridi was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 as the captain of the one-day side which forced the all-rounder to retire from international cricket.
