Pakistan’s former captain and middle-order batsman, Shoaib Malik is expected to make a comeback in the national team for the four-match One Day International (ODI) series against England set to begin from February 13, 2012.
According to credible sources close to national selectors, there is a consensus within the selection committee that Malik is the best option to take over the captaincy from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, once the current captain bids farewell to the game.
The source on the condition of anonymity said, “The feeling is that we should be preparing someone as the next captain whenever Misbah steps down and Malik appears to be the strongest bet."
“The selectors have had a word with the team management and there is support for Malik to make a comeback for the limited over games against England," he added.
Malik was dropped for the Test series against England because of poor form, but the batsman has been working hard and has given a commendable performance in domestic cricket to convince the selectors that he needs to earn a place back in the national team.

Malik, who turned thirty on Wednesday, admitted that he was seeking a place in the national team.
Commenting on his expected return in the one-day squad, he said, “I know there is a lot of pressure involved on you when as a senior player you make a comeback to international cricket but I am learning to cope with that."
He insisted that currently his top priority is to get back in the team through his performance, however, a recall for the English series is up to the selectors as a player he can only give a commendable performance.
