Pakistan Cricket declines, Pakistan Cricket Board told to improve
The path of success of any organization in any field of life is linked with various kinds of individuals, organizational struggles, including wining passion, technical capabilities, fighting strategies and competition powers against opponents.
Keeping in view the entire plus and minus points of the team or group, and most importantly the administrations abilities, the administration can lead the country towards success.
Although, Pakistan has lots of young talent, its cricket is in a constant crisis owing to non-implementation of meritocracy in the structure from top to bottom inside the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which deals with the sport across the country.
The future of the cricket is under threat after warnings from the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) to PCB in clear words saying it needs to sort out the administrative problems within a month or face the results in the form of sanctions.
The ICC wants PCB to commence not only a competency-based educational program for all players, but also makes them accountable to robust disciplinary processes. Such reforms are direly needed to boost the performance of the board and as well players.
Though cricket is losing its standing in the country, the PCB seems to be committing one blunder after another and taking the game to the edge of disaster.
The main reasons behind this decline include, lack of administrative powers by the board, and misbehavior of the players of the team due to
leniency from the officials side. The players are forgiven after corruption and misconduct charges by the board while on the other hand charges are also leveled against officials. However no stern action was taken by the authorities in this regard.
The sad point of the whole scenario is regarding appointment of the board’s chairman, who is directly appointed by the President of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
It is pertinent to mention here that the appointment of the Chairman of the board should be on merit keeping in view his abilities and vision for the promotion of cricket in the country.
The domestic structure of cricket in Pakistan is also another factor in this flawed system. This structure is a hotchpotch of regional and departmental teams.
Pakistan Cricket Board initiated a Pentangular Cup among the teams of four provinces and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), a couple of years back in order to find talent.
The cream of the talent from all over the country was merged into five teams and mixed with the teams of domestic and regional level for bringing more competition amongst the players. However, the experts called it an absolute mockery of the original concept
of the Pentangular tournament.
Pakistan’s cricket team needs more young blood and change in the board’s management to regain its previous status and achievements.
The current chief of PCB, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, is being targeted from all ex-legends and ex-board officials due to his erroneous decisions. However, it is not easy to remove him from his current position as he has very strong lobby in the ruling class. He has close
relations with President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, Minister of Defense, Ahmad Mukhtar and even with bureaucrats.
No effort will succeed until appointments in the board will be done on merit.
Unfortunately, not much attention has been given to aforementioned areas and whenever Pakistan’s team loses, meaningless discussions start making the rounds. The officials are not bent upon protecting their seats and no strict action is taken in this regard.
Pakistan’s cricket team will not stop being in the news for all the wrong reasons until the basics are corrected in the system of PCB.
