Pakistan Cricket experts support ICC decision to eliminate Political Appointments
Cricket pundits within Pakistan have appreciated International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625)’s decision to eradicate political influence in cricket governing bodies all across the world.
After an ICC Chief Executive meeting in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, Sri Lanka, and, Bangladesh, asking them to get rid of political interference in the matters of the game.
The governing body also set a deadline of two years for the boards to become free of political and government influence.
The three Asian countries, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and, Bangladesh, will become the biggest victims of the changes in the rules of the business. While the president of the country appoints cricket board’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Cricket (SLC) is also
directly answerable to the government. Likewise, the cricket’s governing body in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 has all its officials appointed by the government.
Reacting to the situation, ICC made it clear that if the boards fail to bring the matters on the right track within the next two years, the body will consider imposing serious sanctions.
While Pakistan Cricket Board once again expressed some concerns over the decision, the step has been welcomed by cricketing circles and gurus of the game.
The legendary batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hanif-Mohammad-c61403 said, "A politics-free PCB will be a very good change".
Arif Abassi, former PCB chief also backed the decision, saying, "It should have been made years ago. The new system will help find competent people to run our cricketing affairs, which is a good sign".
Karachi City Cricket Association President, Sirajul Islam Bukhari, also hailed the step, uttering that the modifications in the regulations will work positively for bringing improvement in the game in Pakistan.
"It will be very difficult to implement the change. But in the long run it is very good for our cricket's future. We will definitely improve as a cricketing nation", he shared.
PCB chief, Ijaz Butt’s politically-influenced appointment has always been a subject of criticism over the last few years. With the final ruling by ICC, PCB is now left with no other option except implementing the decision as soon as possible.
