5th round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2010-11 (Division One) started on 22 November. With the points table of Division one very well poised, this was an important round, especially because there were Eid holidays between the 4th and
the 5th round.
At the Diamond Club Ground Islamabad, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited were up against Islamabad. Sui Gas won the toss and decided to field first on a pitch that had a lot of moisture in it. Imran Ali and Asad Ali ran through the inexperienced batting
line-up of Islamabad. Islamabad were all out on 97. Ameer Khan was the top-scorer with 26 runs. Asad Ali impressed with a 6-wicket haul whereas, the experienced Imran Ali took 4 wickets. In reply, Sui Gas displayed a better batting performance as they managed
to pile up 187 runs on the board. Khurram Shehzad played a timely knock of 64 to give Sui Gas a lead of 90 runs in the 1st innings. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 sent 3 batsmen back to the pavilion.
Because of an aggressive knock by the all-rounder Imad Wasim, who made 61 of 102 balls, Islamabad played much better in the 2nd innings as they managed to score 218 runs. Imran Ali once again starred with the ball, he took 6 wickets and with that
completed his 10 for the match. Sui Gas had to score only 128 runs to secure a victory in the 5th round but their batting collapsed like a house of cards in the 2nd innings. They were all-out on 57 in only 18.3 overs. Nasrullah Khan took
7 wickets in the 2nd innings to complete a 10 wicket haul in the match. Sui Gas definitely missed the services of their experienced players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, Muhammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal and Adnan Akmal.
In another match that was played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, there was another upset on the cards. An inexperienced Rawalpindi were up against a formidable opponent in shape of Habib Bank. Hassan Raza, the captain of Habib Bank won the toss and elected
to field first. Rawalpindi posted a total of 390 runs in the 1st innings. Naveed Malik, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Babar-Naeem-c47131 and Muzamil Nizam made half-centuries for Rawalpindi. Fast bowler Fahad Masood and Kamran Hussain took 5 and 4 wickets respectively for Habib Bank.
In reply, Habib Bank were all out on 164 runs with only Kamran Hussain making a notable score of 36. Nasir Malik took 4 wickets and Rizwan Akbar getting 3 scalps. Following on, Habib Bank displayed a better batting performance which was still not good enough
for Rawalpindi. HBL made 287 runs in the 2nd innings, mainly because of half-centuries by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-Malik-c78763 and Rizwan Akbar was amongst wickets once again. Rizwan took 4 and Nasir 3.
Rawalpindi needed only 65 to win the match, which they achieved for the loss of 4 wickets. Naveed Malik made 32 of only 37 deliveries. Kamran Hussain grabbed 2 wickets.
Both the matches played in the twin-cities came up with surprising results. Habib Bank and Sui Gas would be strengthened in the next round as a lot of their senior players were with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team in this round and they should be back for the 6th
round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
