Talented middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Yousuf-c77465 has been nominated for the ‘Pride of Performance Award’, on the occasion of Pakistan’s 64th Independence Day.
The great batsman, Yousuf will receive this award in a ceremony, which will take place at the President house, on March 23, 2012.
Recently, the 36-year-old batsman, who is going to celebrate his 37th Birthday on August 27, 2011, announced retirement from International cricket, and revealed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) does not want to
consider him for national selection.
While announcing his retirement in Karachi, he clarified that he is done with his cricketing career, and that he would not take his retirement back.
The way a player of his calibre was sidelined and finally resigned, made obvious his disappointment with the national cricket board.
The governing body of cricket in Pakistan has been sidelining Yousuf in the recent past, and recently he was also axed from the list of the central contracts.
The Lahore-born batsman played his last Test match for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 at Lord's, in London, in 2010.
Whereas, the match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on November 8, 2010, was his last One Day International appearance.
Meanwhile, Yousuf’s inclusion in the Pakistan squad for the recently concluded World Cup was expected because of his vast experience; however, he was not given an opportunity to represent his country in the mega event, citing his
form and fitness.
In spite of the PCB’s ignorance, Pakistan’s government has appreciated the services of the former captain by considering him for the presidential award.
He represented his country in 90 Test matches and 288 One Day Internationals, collecting 7530 and 9720 runs respectively.
Along with him, a member of the country’s blind cricket team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sana-Mir-c88459, have also been selected for the ‘Pride of Performance Award’.
On the other hand, PCB’s chairman, Ijaz Butt, has also admired the services of Yousuf, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Razzaq-c84421, and Sana.
“The entire cricketing fraternity is proud of these great performers who through their hard work and commitment have made the country proud,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128.
