Pakistan Hockey Federation reveals the Europe tour line-up for the national team: Hockey Update
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has revealed the detailed plan for the senior national men’s hockey team for the Europe tour ahead, today, on May 26.
This tour will continue from the month of June to July, this year that will begin its journey from Ireland where the team will take part in the University College Dublin (UCD) Four-nation hockey tournament at UCD, in Dublin, starting from June 20-25, according
to a PHF official.
Pakistan’s national team will be leaving for Ireland on June 16. The match schedule of the event is stated as follows.
Pak versus France and China versus Ireland on June 20, China versus Pakistan and France versus Ireland on June 22, France versus China and Pakistan versus Ireland on June 24, third place and fourth place match and final match on June 25.
After the Ireland tourney, the team will head their way to Netherlands where it will play the Four-nation Rabo hockey tournament, starting from June 28 – July 2 in Amstelveen.
This Holland tourney comprises of the match schedule as Germany versus England and Pakistan versus Holland on June 28, England versus Pakistan and Holland versus Germany on June 29, Germany versus Pakistan and England versus Holland on July 1, Third versus
Fourth place match and the final match on July 2.
Pakistan will be the lowest in rank among the four nations that will play this tournament, consisting of Pakistan at 8th place, Germany at 2nd, Netherlands/Holland at 3rd and England at 4th, according to the International
Hockey Federation (FIH) World ranking list.
In the mean time, on yesterday, May 25, PHF distributed the prize-money to the Pakistan Whites, the team that won gold in the Dhaka 11th South Asian Games, which concluded in February 2011. This prize distribution was made in the PHF conference
room at the Lahore National Hockey Stadium.
Total amount worth PKR 9 million was announced by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, as an acknowledgment to the team’s performance in Bangladesh.
This grand amount distributed the amount among the players by the PHF Secretary, Muhammad Asif Bajwa.
