Pakistan Hockey looking at new contract for coach Michel van den Heuvel – Hockey News
Pakistan’s Dutch hockey coach, Michel van den Heuvel is looking to revise his contract with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) as he is returning to the country on February 2.
Heuvel will be taking part in a two-day meeting to discuss his contract and quite possibly re-negotiate for a better deal with the PHF.
Both the PHF and Heuvel are under the mutual understanding that the contract needs to be revised in order to ensure a smooth training session for the Pakistan hockey team as they prepare for the 2012 London Olympics.
The PHF are satisfied with his performance as under his guidance, the Pakistan team managed to win the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. The team’s tremendous performance can be attributed to the Dutch coach as he has worked hard to bring the team back to
their previous winning form.
The previous contract had provisions for revisions depending on the performance of the team at the 2010 Asian Games. Having won the event, the coach is looking to revise his contract and quite possibly expand or extend his relationship with the PHF.
The coach is also looking to discuss the overall security situation in the country after the recent incident of the assassination of the Governor Punjab. Heuvel is hoping for a security arrangement with the PHF.
PHF does not want to lose such a skilled coach as he has worked very hard and it has paid off with the recent Asian Games victory. Michel is in a good position to get what he wants in terms of a revised contract as he has proven himself to the PHF. It looks
like he may be given security arrangements so that he can continue his good work and conduct country-wide training camps without any fear or tension.
It will be interesting to see what type of revision the PHF does with Michel’s contract as he is tremendous that has made a very positive impact on the Pakistan hockey team. The PHF will be hoping they can work something out so that they can retain Heuvel
to help the team for the 2012 London Olympics.
