Pakistan-New Zealand series: Daniel Vettori to sit out third match

The third match is scheduled to take place at Christchurch on 29 January, 2011. The decision to rest Vettori for the next game is part of the rotation policy that the New Zealand cricket board is following.
Apart from Vettori, there are some other players who will be rested for the third game against Pakistan. Opening batsman Jesse Ryder and all-rounder James Franklin will also not be a part of the team in the upcoming match.
The decision to rest some of the key players was taken to ensure that most of the players who are in the World Cup squad get maximum exposure and match practice ahead of the mega event.
The changes made to the team mean that Martin Guptill will be without his regular partner in the match and Jamie How will open the innings with him. Apart from that, veteran fast bowler Kyle Mills will be in the team for Franklin.

The second match of the series was abandoned due to rain and the home team leads the series 1-0 after two matches.
