The Governing Council of IPL is yet to come out with its final decision regarding Pakistani players participating in the fourth edition of the IPL series.
While responding to news reports, that focused upon Pakistani players being sidelined for the second year running, a member of the IPL Governing Committee told the reporters: “Anyone can write anything sitting in the room, but
no such decision was taken at the meeting.”
While quoting a top official of the Cricket Board, who also enjoys a large share in the cash-rich league, the local newspapers were told that the IPL GC which was held on December 5th, had decided to leave the players
from Pakistan out of the auction as the International Cricket Council was probing into the match-fixing allegations which had involved a number of Pakistani players currently playing for the country, decisions about which were still pending.
However, this is being perceived as a lame excuse on GC’s part as prior to the IPL-3 series, in which no Pakistani player had shown any intention to be a part of, no franchise had shown even a little interest in picking up the
players from Pakistan during the auction held last January.
The Pakistani players who had participated in the auction but who did not find any takers were http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, Saeed Ajmal, Umar Gul, Umar Akmal, Imran Nazir, Kamran Akmal, Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan, Abdul
Razzaq and Mohammad Aamer.
Pakistani players were rather eager to participate in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008, which they did but in the following year they were denied permission in the second season of the league in the wake of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks
on November 26th, 2008. The Indian government stated it was not comfortable with Pakistani players visiting the country.
