Pakistan Premier League idea backed by Abdul Qadir – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistani spin legend, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board’s idea of hosting a Pakistan Premier League, by stating that the T20 tournament could lay a perfect opening for the country to revive international cricket.
Following an abrupt delay in the proposed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, recently announced the launching of the PPL in October, in a bid to reassure international teams that the country is ready to host matches at their home.
The idea of staging a T20 tournament had gathered pace after the cricket board officials confirmed that they had received positive response from investors and sponsors. After working out some basic financial technicalities, and the reluctance of BCB to send
their team, PCB have made PPL their top priority – hoping to make the event successful both commercially and on an operational level as well.
The reaction from former players has also been encouraging as all feel that Pakistan has the capability, and resources, to pull of such an event. However, they have advised the board to ensure safety of players and staff as a matter of top priority.
“I am optimistic that some very good international players will feature in the PPL,” said Abdul Qadir.

“When international players will come here, then definitely finest security arrangements would be provided to them,” said the 56-year-old.
Qadir believes that the popularity of the Indian Premier League will not adversely affect the growth of the tournament, citing the example of BPL.
“Just see the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), how successful it went, so PPL is just the beginning of a new era of cricket in Pakistan,” said the fomer right-armer.
The former chief selector suggested that a minimum of twelve teams should participate in the PPL, franchises must be named after their respective cities, adding an element of interest for the fans.   
“There should be 12 to 16 teams in the PPL and the team’s names must be kept on the cities in Pakistan as to generate a rate of interest among the people,” said the spin specialist.
