Pakistan Premier League to be named different – Cricket News Update

PCB chairman, Zaka Ashraf, claims that the first ever cricket league in the country will indeed have a unique name, rather than the highly advocated Pakistan Premiere League. He added that the board is still in process of finding a suitable name for the
mega event, expected to be staged later in the year.
"We are not going to call it http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397.
The PCB chief further revealed that the operational model of the league will not be the same as the Indian Premier League (IPL), and aims to ensure that the league will hold its own uniqueness.
"We are working on delivering an innovative and exciting cricket league but it would not be on the exact model of the IPL. Nimbus made a presentation regarding the league earlier this month. There are a few other companies in the picture as well," said the
59-year-old chairman.
The board has tentatively scheduled the un-named league in October this year, despite having yet to finalize the tournament’s format. Although some renowned international players have shown interest, including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Symonds-c44611
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Charles-Lara-c48471, their official participation has not been confirmed by either the player or the PCB.
Despite the tournament given backing by former Men in Green players, many cricket pundits have cast doubt over the long-term prospect of the league. They are of the view that in order for the league to be successful, and aid in restoring international cricket,
the PBC will need to convince current international players to come and play in the T20 event, rather than retired foreign stars.
Pakistan has not played on home soil since 2009, with the last visiting team being http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.  The governing body, headed by Zaka Ashraf, has actively carried out efforts to end the cricketing drought from the country. One hopes their plans succeed.
