Pakistan Tennis Federation questions tennis NGO
The Tennis Federation of Pakistan (PTF) on Friday questioned an NGO named, Subh-e-Nau, about its accounts. With reference to the tournament approved by the Pakistan Tennis Federation and sponsorship money it gained as a result of tennis competitions.
Mrs Shahida Farooq is the person who has been arranging tennis tournaments, approved by the Pakistan Tennis Federation, under the name of a non-governmental organization known as Subh-e-Nau NGO. But she has not disclosed sponsorships gathered by her in the name of the Pakistan Tennis Federation championships.
“She is recommended to disclose the exact amount gathered by her in the name of the game of tennis in Pakistan”, the Secretary of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, Major (Retd) Rashid Khan commented stated.
He added that Shahida Farooq, who is the chairperson of that particular NGO, is a non-elected member of the Pakistan Tennis Federation Council.  She wishes to become an elected member however the Council has rejected her request as a result of her doubtful status.
“She made a request for a complete membership in the final meeting of the Pakistan Tennis Federation council, organized in the month of April this season, however, Shahida’s request was refused by most of the members as the council viewed that the PTF voting membership is exclusively for the government sections, national organisations, forces as well as multinational organizations with solid economic backgrounds where as Subh-e-Nau NGO is surviving on funding and have no appropriate source of earning. Moreover, its audit accounts have never been created as well”, he informed.
Rashid Khan added that after the refusal of her request, Shahida now was trying her level best to push the federation through false ways and has even made pointless, mala fide as well as malicious legal statements. She had previously been asked for passing on the information regarding the accounts of the Pakistan Tennis federation as well as the money spent on international tours.
“The truth of the matter is that the accounts of the Pakistan Tennis Federation are audited on external basis per year audited accounts are shared with all the attached units prior to AGMs. These audited accounts are later talked about in the AGMs and have to be sanctioned by the members of the council. Any questions raised are discussed till the contentment of the council members. Shahida being a female member of the Pakistan Tennis Federation council is fully aware of the entire method as she has been participating in the AGMs earlier as well as examining these audited accounts,” Rashid Khan commented.
“It is useless to comment that Shahida has been also sanctioning the accounts at the moment of its voting. Moreover, one copy of all these audited accounts is also yielded to Pakistan Sports Board as well as Pakistan Olympics Association. PSB does not provide the next season’s donation till they get the audited accounts”, he added. Furthermore, the Pakistan Tennis Federation has no issue in fulfilling Shahida Farooq’s wish to explain the amount of money spent on the latest visit of Davis Cup team of Pakistan to New Zealand. “The PTF is ready to provide all the information as well as the details of the expenditure on the visit of the Pakistan side for the Davis to New Zealand. Anyhow, it may be made known that neither of the federation officials went with the Pakistan side on their tour to New Zealand”, he ended.
