Pakistan Test Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 suffers ankle injury
Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 suffered a setback when Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq twisted his ankle while practicing during the team’s training camp in Lahore.
Misbah had to be taken out of training to receive treatment on his ankle. Later in the day the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Test skipper told reporters that the injury was only minor, and would heal within two to three days.
That may however be a problem for Pakistan, despite the fact that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 Shirts play three Twenty20 matches before the first Test on 7 January at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Misbah needs to be fully fit before the first Test, and if the injury is minor there
is enough time for him to recover since he has not been selected for the Twenty20 series.
If however the injury proves to be serious the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will have a real problem on their hands, because they will have to find another captain to lead the Test side.
While talking to the press Misbah said that he had full confidence in his team, and believed that they would give the Kiwis a tough time. He said, “Though [Pakistan] beating New Zealand is quite possible, to achieve this every member of the squad has to
give his 100 per cent. And the entire team will have to play quality cricket as a unit.”
The Test skipper has great hopes for the team, and is a strong believer in the team’s ability to surprise everyone at the World Cup. Misbah, who is no longer part of the Twenty20 squad , said, “Pakistan has played most of its recent series in very tough
conditions and gone through a very difficult time but that shouldn’t rule out our chances in the World Cup, I admit we lack consistency at times but you can expect anything from this team. They can give opponents a tough time and produce their best when required.”
Speaking about his personal fitness and ambitions the 36-year-old said that he still had the ability to play the Twenty20 format of the game, and has been keeping fit for all three formats of the game. However for now Misbah-ul-Haq believes his main priority
at the moment is to lead his Test side against the Kiwis, before everyone’s attention shifts to the World Cup.
