Pakistan: The Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament- Round 1
The 27th Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament ended with its first round at the Lahore Gymkhana Club, Pakistan on Friday and observed rather classy play from the golfers.
The play on the 10th of December was carried out at the par 71 GC and witnessed three talented golfers at the front. Waseem Rana, Hamza Asif and Omer Salamat managed to card a 68 in their score card
and thus proved to be competitive challengers for the apex.
The golfers hailed from the Defence Club Karachi and Gymkhana Club and displayed their amazing form through their definite swings and solid putts. With the golfers appearing rather fine with their score at the
GC, the first round of the tournament witnessed the golfers rule the roost with a 68.
To hearten the participants to a new level, Sikandar Mustafa stepped into the green fields which is from the sponsors, Millat Group and encouraged the contestants with a powerful shot.
The Governor’s Cup field was a collection of a total of 120 golfers and had three golfers standing with a difference of one stroke from the leaders. The runner up place thus included the likes of Ali Anwar Khan,
Aayan Mumtaz and Nauman Haider who carded an impressive 69.
As far as the categories are concerned, the Net class included a total of 15 players that managed to grab a classy place while the much exclusive Gross category included the likes of ten players with impressive
performances.
According to reports, the Gymkhana Golf Club leader, Sardar Murad, is said to favour the leading pack of the first round immensely and hoped for them to continue the undemanding loom in hopes of undertaking the
demands of their competitive struggle.
From the list of zero handicappers, Waseem enjoyed his game the most and was able to stand head to head with other competititors that had the handicap advantage going on. According to the critics, the golfer is
a combination of wits and skill that makes him hit long drives and gives him a crisp approach.

Further down the leader board, the 73 cult included the likes of Omer, Nadeem Abbas and Zulfiqar. Two shots below the earlier stated line-up, Imran Habib and Daanyal Jehangir carded a 75.
Unfortunately there has been one disqualification handed out by the Match referee Rai Azizullah. According to Azizullah, Faisal Sayed was given a DQ for playing the wrong ball.
