Centurion Babar Azam propelled the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Under-19s to a comprehensive 9-wicket win over the Scotland Under-19s during the 11th match of the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup 2012, played today on August 13 at the Kev Hackney Oval in Buderim.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 U-19s won the toss and chose to bat first, but the Pakistan U-19s’ bowling attack, spearheaded by Mohammad Nawaz (10-1-20-4), did not allow their batsmen to progress beyond a final score of 200 runs.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zia-ul-Haq-c98603 in the 7th over.
McLean, however, powered on, going on to set up a 44-run stand with Tom McBride (18).  Their partnership enabled the Scotland U-19s to reach 80 runs by the 20th over, before McBride was caught and bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zafar-Gohar-Khan-c98408.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Frederick-RJ-Coleman-c57922 (39), however, proved to be the most able partner for McLean, and the two joined forces for a 66-run stand which got their side up to 146 by the 33rd over. McLean was then run out by Sami Aslam, and following his dismissal, the
Scotland U-19s failed to regain their momentum, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Nawaz-c77155 and Ehsan Adil (9.5-1-37-2) teaming up to demolish the remaining batting order.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Henry-Richard-Edwards-c62725 was dismissed by Adil on 1, after which Nawaz finally succeeded in dislodging Coleman in the 40th over. The left-arm spinner went on to claim 3 more, dismissing Peter Ross for 1 before sending both Aman Bailwal (1) and Kyle Smith
(0) back to the pavilion in the 44th over.
Sloppy running saw Scott McElnea (2) run out in the 47th over by wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 (34) – in the final over, with the Scotland U-19s finishing, all out, at 200.
Following up their fierce bowling attack with a powerful batting display, the Pakistan U-19s comfortably chased the target, at the expense of just 1 wicket. The mainstay of their innings was skipper Babar Azam’s massive unbeaten 106, which included 10 fours
and 2 sixes and won him the Player of the Match award.
His opening stand with Sami Aslam (78) saw both batsmen posting a combined total of 163 on the board by the 30th over, after which Kyle Smith swept Aslam off the pitch, claiming the only wicket the Scotland U-19s managed to take.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Babar-Azam-c1122 remained invincible, and his unbeaten 41-run stand with Imam-ul-Haq (10*) saw the Pakistan Under-19s clinching their second consecutive victory in the tournament, comfortably reaching 204 by the 37th over at the expense of
just one wicket, with 82 balls remaining.
