Pakistan Under-19s v Zimbabwe Under-19s - Tri-Nation Under-19s Tournament – Match Update
Zimbabwe 138 v Pakistan 139 - Pakistan Under-19s won by 7 wickets (with 132 balls remaining)
On Wednesday, January 18, 2012 Pakistan Under-19s secured a win against Zimbabwe in the ongoing Tri-Nation Under-19s Tournament by seven wickets at Stellenbosch University Ground.
Zimbabwe chose to bat first after winning the toss as they wanted to score maximum runs and then put enormous pressure on Pakistan – a side which is not considered as the best chasers in the world of cricket.
However, Pakistan made early inroads by grabbing the wicket of Zimbabwe opener, Shoun Handirisi, who fell after scoring seven runs.
Luke Masasire and Kevin Kasuza then took charge as the batsmen unleashed a barrage of outstanding hitting against the Pakistan bowling attack.
The batsmen exhibited tremendous resolve as they shredded the Pakistan bowlers and reduced the bowling attack to rubble.
With 73 runs on the board, it was time for Kasuza to take a walk back to the pavilion as he was dismissed after playing an innings of 31 runs.
The departure of Kasuza trigged a batting collapse as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Seeing a great opportunity to climb back in the match, the Pakistan bowlers opened the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gates-c58585 of h**l for the Zimbabwean batsmen by restricting them from playing freely.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s resurgence was so severe that Zimbabwe’s remaining batting line-up failed to score in double figures, leaving Luke Masasire under pressure as he had to do the bulk of scoring under difficult conditions.
The batsman departed after playing an under pressure knock of 65 runs, as he helped his side amass 138 runs in 40.5 overs.
From Pakistan, pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zia-ul-Haq-c98603 was the most successful with three wickets under his belt.
Coming out to chase the required target of 139 runs in 50 overs, Pakistan batsmen took the Zimbabwean bowlers to task right from the word go as they smashed the bowlers all around the park.
The Men in Green comfortably reached the required target in 28 overs for the loss of only three wickets with opener, Faraz Ali, becoming the highest scorer from his side after hammering an innings of 68 runs. The batsman was also named as the Player of the Match for his exuberant show with the bat.
