Pakistan aim to wrap up Test series for the first time in four years
Pakistan will be eying their first Test series victory in four years, by winning the second Test against New Zealand, which starts at Wellington tomorrow. The team has already won the first Test match and even a draw will be good enough for them to seal
the series.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 said that even though the team was in a great position to win the series; he will not relax until the job is completed. He added that rather than looking for a draw, his team will go for a win.
Misbah said, “Cricket is so fast nowadays that you rarely see a drawn Test match, unless the wicket is really flat. Our best policy for the upcoming match at Wellington will be to go for a win, rather than just consolidate our one-nil lead. I want my team
to perform well, play good cricket and look to wrap up the series two-nil.”
Pakistan coach Waqar Younis was also confident that his team will win the upcoming match to complete a whitewash series win. Pakistan last won a Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in early 2007.
The team has been struggling with controversies and security concerns, due to which foreign teams have not toured the country. This has hurt the team badly in recent years, and Pakistan has been denied home advantage, since the team has been playing their
home series on neutral venues.
The Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 showed good spirit in the first Test match, after they had lost the Twenty20 series against New Zealand 2-1. The team focused entirely on cricket, and didn’t panic about the spot-fixing hearing being held in Doha against Mohammad Amir, Mohammad
Asif and Salman Butt.
The only thing that the Pakistani team lacked in the first match was a century from any player. Some players got good starts, but none of them was able to convert the start into a century.
The bowling has been pretty decent for Pakistan, even though they were without front-line spinner Saeed Ajmal. The off-spinner returned to Pakistan in order to attend his father’s funeral and missed the first match.
On the other hand, the Kiwi team is looking to bounce back in the series after a humiliating defeat in the first encounter. The team has been subjected to a lot of criticism, and many former cricketers in the country have blamed the quantity of Twenty20
cricket for their poor show in Test cricket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 said that the batsmen – himself included - need to apply themselves at the crease
and score big runs. The team lost the first Test match due to some spectacular batting collapses.
The bowlers managed to do a decent job in the match and will be expected to repeat their performance, but the main concern for the Kiwis will be their batting.
The wicket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 is considered to be supportive for fast bowlers, and that could be a cause of concern for the Pakistani batsmen, but this will also be troublesome for the home team since Pakistan has a very decent pace attack.
