http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 announces the ICC World T20 2012 squad – Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in September/October.
The opening batsman, Mohammad Hafeez, has been retained as captain in the shortest format of the game, also assured of the job till the end of this year.
The selectors have thrown in a number of surprises, with some seasoned campaigners returning to the international fold. Kamran Akmal, the wicketkeeper/batsman, who was sidelined since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 after an abysmal show behind the stumps,
has been recalled.
Star all-rounder, Abdul Razzaq and aggressive opening batsman, Imran Nazir, have also been successful in finding a place in the squad for the mega event.
The left-handed opener, Nasir Jamshed, who was out of international cricket because of a fractured finger, is also back in the national team.
The left-hander is ecstatic to have regained his place in the team after injury and vows to deliver the goods in the illustrious event.
He expressed, "Winning back the opportunity [to play for Pakistan] is always hard, and I am glad to have [my place] back. I have recovered [from the injury] and am sensing tough competition for the opening slot. But being a left-hander, it differentiates
me from the other [three]."
Quite surprisingly, young opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Shehzad-c42359 has been dropped from the T20 team, although he looked impressive in the two-match series against Sri Lanka last month.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haris-Sohail-c61503 can count themselves extremely unfortunate to have been dropped without even getting a game
in the Sri Lankan tour.
Asad Shafiq, the right-handed batsman has also earned a recall after proving his potential in the Test series against the Islanders.
