Pakistan apex court releases Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 attack suspect – Cricket News Update
The Supreme Court of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 2009 attack on Team Sri Lanka, Malik Ishaq, while overruling Lahore High Court’s decree to deny bail to the culprit. However, the court has order him to submit security bonds of Rs 500, 000.
Having been denied any concession by the LHC, Ishaq appealed to the apex court some days back. Justice M A http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 Siddiqui of the SC heard the case and granted bail to the suspect yesterday.
Ishaq is reported to be one of the founders of the banned militant outfit of Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and a key planner of assault on the Lankan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808.
The vehicle convoy of Team Sri Lanka was attacked by some armed terrorist in Lahore, on 3 March, 2009 when they were proceeding for Gaddafi Stadium to play a match against the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723. The attack was so severe that it killed 8 on the spot and left many
other injured including players and staff of the visiting team.
This attack proved to be a sheer fateful incident in the history of Pakistan as it triggered the complete blackout of the international cricket in the country. After the incident, no foreign cricket team has visited and played in Pakistan yet.
Adding insult to injury, Pakistan was denied the rights of hosting the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
Some security analysts fear that the acquittal of Ishaq will send a negative message to the international community which is already doubtful of Pakistan’s efforts to curb home-grown terrorism and militancy. They argue that the move may further delay the
resumption of international cricket in Pakistan.
On the other hand, the defense ministry of Pakistan has confirmed that no solid proofs have been found against the released suspect and the court cannot order his detention without justification.
However, some other culprits like Zubair, Adnan Khosa and Qari Irshad are still in the custody of the Pakistani police, which is interrogating them and investigating into the incident.
