Pakistan completed a remarkable win in the first test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, was extremely happy after the game and said that it was nothing less than what his team deserved,
and that it was a total team effort. Not many would have expected the match to be over on the 3rd day considering that the track was not a bowler’s paradise and was expected to become easier to bat on in the 2nd innings. Pakistan managed
to take a first inning lead of 92 runs, but it was their bowling that really tilted the match in their favour. New Zealand were all out for just 110 runs, which gave the visitors a target of just 19 runs to win, which they got without breaking a sweat.
Mibah ul Haq and Asad Shafiq started the day for Pakistan at 235 for 4 and were trailing New Zealand by 40 runs. The two right handers started with a very cautious approach and were determined not to lose any early wickets. The scoring rate was slow but
they managed to get the shine of the 2nd new ball off safely. However, both were dismissed soon; Asad Shafiq was on the receiving end of a harsh LBW decision at 83, as the ball clearly looked to be going over the top of the stumps. That ended the
149 run partnership between Misbah and Asad. In the very next over, Misbah also got one that came in and struck his pads; his decision was much more straight forward and the captain was out for 62 runs off the bowling of Brent Arnel. Wicketkeeper batsman,
Adnan Akmal and Abdur Rehman replaced the two and they started to put on some useful runs. The pair added 76 runs. Akmal was particularly harsh on anything loose outside the off stump and the pair took Pakistan past New Zealand's total, on to a sizeable lead.
Adnan was then dismissed for 44 runs; he was caught by Jesse Ryder off the bowling of Tim Touthee. Adur Rehman also fell soon after for 28 runs; he was bowled out by Arnel. Pakistan ended their innings at 367, with a lead of 92 runs.
New Zealand came out to bat with their backs to the wall, but still could not have expected what transpired in the 2nd innings. Openers, Brendon McCullum and Tim McIntosh started well and it was Mccullum in his usual aggressive mood that took
on the Pakistan attack. Both took the score to 36 when McIntosh was stumped off the bowling of Abdur Rehman for just 3 runs. McCullum also followed soon- he was caught behind off the bowling of Wahab Riaz for 35 runs.
The man in form, Martin Guptill was in next and his partnership with Jesse Ryder had added just 16 runs when Guptill was caught by Taufeeq Umar off the bowling of Abdur Rehman. The massacre continued as Ryder was given out in the very next over for LBW off
the bowling of Wahab for naught.
Kane Williamson, who was impressive in the first innings, could only manage a single run this time, and he became the 3rd victim of Wahab Riaz. New Zealand were eventually bundelled out for just 110; Wahab, Rehman and Umar Gul, all took 3 wickets
each. Pakistan were given a target of just 19 runs in the 2nd innings, which they easily covered in under 4 overs to lead the 2 match series 1-0. Left arm spinner, Abdur Rehman was named man of the match for his 6 wickets and 28 runs.
