Pakistan board accuses ICC of conspiracy
The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 has been quiet for some time since the match-fixing scandal broke out in England.
However, after the latest revelations by the International Cricket Council, that they were investigating for the traces of spot-fixing in the third ODI at Oval as well, the PCB chairman lambasted the ICC for the revelations. He also added that he had information
that the English team fixed the third ODI.
Butt said that the PCB will probe into the fact that this latest revelation was a conspiracy by "August cricket bodies", to defraud Pakistan and Pakistani cricket.
The chairman said there wasn’t anything being done to “defraud the bookies”, but to bring a bad name to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. He also said that if necessary, the PCB will sue those involved in the conspiracy.
According to Butt, he heard from the illegal betting circles that some of the English players accepted huge bribes to throw the Oval game away.
Speaking to a website, Cricinfo.com, Butt also shot back when asked whether he had any proof on which he had based the allegations, by saying, “Did you ask the other people who made allegations against our players whether they had any proof? What did they say?
We have thought about this properly and we have positive proofs here before us just like they say they have also.”
Not refraining from attacking the ICC and some of the unnamed cricket boards, Butt also said that the media from some countries was equally to blame for the crisis.
Earlier, the PCB had expressed dissatisfaction over the manner in which the ICC had revealed the probe that they were going to conduct for the third ODI played at the Oval between England and Pakistan. The PCB said that they had not been consulted in the matter
and that they had come to know of it through the media.
Butt added that he will reveal more of the names of those involved in this conspiracy after the investigations are completed.
