changed their code of conduct and based it according to what the International Cricket Council had expected out of them after the spot-fixing scandal had put Pakistan cricket in a spot.
Team manager Alam, who had earlier claimed that he would not be scared to crack the whip on erring players on the tour said to reporters: "We have reminded the players that there will be no tolerance on
indiscipline and after these three players returned late to the team hotel by five minutes they have been fined and issued show-cause notices."
According to some of the local dailies, there were three other players, Fawad Alam, Shoaib Akhtar and Abdul Razzaq who were warned by the PCB management for the violation of the code of conduct.
The Pakistani cricketers had to sign a new code of conduct before departing for the series. The measure came after the PCB was forced to crack the whip on indiscipline in the team in the aftermath of the
spot-fixing controversy that occurred in England. Three Pakistani cricketers, Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were involved in spot-fixing scandal that broke out at the end of the fourth Test match between England and Pakistan at the end of the
Lord’s game.
The ICC had then suspended the three players and issued a stern ultimatum to PCB to get their act together or face sanctions. The PCB had annulled the central contracts of the three players involved in the
spot-fixing controversy.
