Pakistan bowlers strike as New Zealand stutter
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 have made a steady start in the first Test of the two-match Test series against Pakistan at Hamilton.
Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill managed to lay down the foundations for a solid first innings performance. Despite some problems early on, the Kiwis managed to emerge rather unscathed playing under overcast conditions.
Surprisingly, there was not ample movement and assistance for the Pakistan bowlers and they failed to make http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Dent-c41093 in the New Zealand side early on.
Pakistan won the toss and decided to field first because of overcast conditions. The greens would have hoped to take some important wickets early in the innings. However, apart from the lone success of the wicket of Tim McIntosh, the seam attack of Pakistan
seemed less than potent.
However, despite the absence of wickets for Pakistan in the first session, they made a tremendous comeback in the second session and managed to take three crucial wickets.
New Zealand is now four wickets down with Umar Gul taking the all-important wicket of Brendon McCullum while Abdul Rehman accounted for Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 who had just scored his 50.
Luck seemed to be favouring Pakistan as well. Jesse Ryder was run out on the non-strikers end when a ball brushed the fingers of Wahab Riaz and hit the stumps.
New Zealand have scored 158 runs for the loss of four wickets in 56 overs so far. Abdul Rehman has been phenomenal with his bowling having bowled 15 overs including seven maidens. Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz have also bowled commendably. It remains to be seen
how the Pakistan batsmen will step up to this opportunity when they get a chance to bat.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 have most certainly come into this match with a positive mindset and fans can only hope that
their performance manages to sideline the hearing of the tainted trio underway in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qatar-c2986.
