Pakistan can win the Test series, believes Abdul Qadir – Cricket News Update
Former Test cricketer, Abdul Qadir, believes that the Pakistani team has the potential to win the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka as he feels that the Green Shirts have a more balanced squad as compared to the Islanders.
Pakistan started the tour of Sri Lanka as favourites because of their recent performances in international cricket but the Men in Green have failed to live up to the expectations so far. While the T20 series was levelled, the home team won the One Day International
series by a comprehensive 3-1 margin.
Quite surprisingly, one of the greats of the game is not very displeased about the national team’s showings in the Island but admitted that there was room for improvement.
The 56-year-old has confidence in the Pakistan team and thinks that the Green Shirts will not let their supporters down in the longer version of the game.
“The so far performance in the Lankan tour is satisfactory but a lot more is expected from the Pakistan team to show in the three Test series. I believe this team has potential to win the three Test series against Lankan team,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Qadir-c41605 expressed.
The first Test of the three-match series is going to commence from June 22nd at Galle. The Pakistani batsmen have so far struggled to cope with the seam movement in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and their performance was quite disappointing during the last tour in
2009 as well. It remains to be seen whether they are able to turn the tables in Test series or not.
There are a lot of question marks about the future of Pakistan at the ultimate level of the sport because there are not enough quality cricketers coming through the ranks of domestic cricket. This is precisely the reason why Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)
has recently launched a talent hunt program in the country.
The former leg-spinner believes that this initiative taken by the board is going to reap rewards in the long-run.
“It is a long term programme which will help in having a reservoir of players to secure the future of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in years to come,” he stated.
