Pakistan captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 dismayed by batting performance against West Indies – Cricket news
Pakistan One Day International skipper Shahid Afridi expressed his frustration and disappointment over the failure of his batsmen in the fifth and last match of the five-match ODI series against West Indies.
Pakistan, who had already won the series by winning the first three matches, were hoping to win the last match as well to take a 4-1 victory in the Caribbean after losing the fourth ODI by just one run through the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Afridi while criticising his batsmen said, “It is a disappointing end. It was not a 140 wicket. We struggled in the batting. The main thing was no partnerships. Just Hafeez played well. Winning a series, especially playing everything away, is important.
Keeps the morale high.”
Afridi and his men lost the match after posting a meagre total of 139 runs on the board after electing to bat first. However, the decision backfired and the tourists succumbed without putting much of a fight.
In the second innings, the Pakistan bowling failed to mark http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Dent-c41093 in the West Indies batting line-up as for the first time in the series the West Indians reached the total without losing a single wicket.
While this was an exceptionally encouraging performance for the hosts, the tourists on the other hand must be feeling the heat after starting the series well. The Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 have landed themselves under pressure just before the two-match Test series which
is scheduled to begin from May 12, 2011.
Afridi once again urged the need for a batting coach who would help the team develop the art of batting under tough situations. “We need someone to teach us how to bat in a situation like this,” said Afridi.
Before embarking on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 to take the job. However, Miandad, who is
currently the director general of the Pakistan Cricket Board, rejected the offer due to personal reasons.
