Pakistan clobbers Kazakhstan by 12-0 in Junior Asia Cup
Pakistan junior hockey team continued their supreme class and dominance in the Junior Asia Cup hockey tournament being played in Singapore. They defeated Azerbaijan, an inexperienced team, in a spectacular fashion in their final group match by 12-0, on June
23.
The victory was their fourth consecutive in the tournament, along with a total of 53 goals that Greenshirts have scored in four games so far in the event and no goals conceded. The stats of these four matches tell the whole story, whether it is defence or
it is attack, the Greenshirts proved themselves fabulous in each and every aspect of the game.
The fourth match against Kazakhstan also demonstrated the dominance of Greenshirts and the helplessness of their opponents, as it was a goal-studded game as usual for Greenshirts in this particular event.
Pakistan, the defending champions, started the match as expected and made eight strikes in the first half, while they scored four goals in the second half without conceding any goal. In the first half, the Greenshirts displayed their astonishing class with
beautiful stick work, dribbling skills and scored eight goals in first 35 minutes, a goal per four and half of a minute on average. Kazakhstan were no match for the Greenshirts and they remained mere spectators.
However, in the second half the Kazakhs displayed relatively an improved performance as compared to first half. Although they could not score any goal in the second half yet they tried very hard to defend their goal-post from the Greenshirts and they remained
successful in doing so as they conceded four goals in the second half. Greenshirts scored four goals in the second half and the match was concluded at 12-0 to Pakistan.
Muhammad Umair was the star performer for Pakistan with four goals, while Bilal Qadir, Arslan Qadir, and Khurram Shahzad scored two goals each. Muhammad Irfan and Hafiz Rizwan also made their contribution in the victory by scoring one goal in this match.
The most interesting thing for the Greenshirts was that the goals were being scored not by a single person. Almost five to six players were contributing in every match like Bilal Qadir, Waseem Abbas, Asad Bashir, Arslan Qadir and Muhammad Umair, who were
scoring goals in every game of this particular event.
The Greenshirts will be up against South Korea in the first semi-final of the event on June 25.
