After a hectic International schedule in the past six months, Pakistan team has been enjoying a break these days. However, Waqar Younis, the head-coach of national cricket team, will not be able to stretch his holidays since he is due to join fast-track
coaching camp, organised by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Young-c98322 pace bowlers.
According to the PCB sources, Waqar was on a one-month long vocation after Pakistan’s recent tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, the coach was scheduled to reach Lahore, Pakistan, on Thursday,
July 7, 2011, to supervise a two-week long coaching camp that was started by the team manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-Khan-c64382, earlier this week.
However, he delayed his arrival due to personal engagements, informing PCB that he will now be joining the camp by July 18, 2011 onwards.
"He has to take care of some domestic issues as his wife is ill. So he has asked the board to extend his leave by ten more days," said an official of PCB.
Earlier, the PCB source confirmed Waqar’s stay with the team for next few months, saying, "Waqar will now be in Pakistan until the team leaves for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the UAE later this year."
The coach recently remained in the headlines for his dispute with the former Pakistan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 in matters of team selection.
While Waqar denied his conflict with Afridi, PCB took a series of steps against the former captain for his media outburst against the coach. The controversy ended when the governing body slapped Afridi with a heavy fine of 4.5 million rupees, allowing him
to play cricket abroad. During the dispute, the former pacer mostly remained mum, refusing to comment on his clash with the flamboyant all-rounder.
Despite Waqar's controversial role, PCB recently decided not to terminate his contract before the scheduled time of two years.
