While announcing the squad the chief selector of Pakistan’s selection committee, Mohsin Hassan Khan sent out a clear message that the time has come to inject the fresh blood into the team to build a competitive squad for the upcoming World Cup. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587 said that the board is giving the youngsters an opportunity to prove their talent and the players deserve such chances.
“It’s time for youngsters to be given an opportunity and a fair chance. I think they deserve a chance and if we don’t give these youngsters a chance, then we will never know whether they will sink or swim in the top tier of cricket.” said Mohsin.
Pakistan Cricket Board is missing two of its promising, veteran cricketers; Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan, and is now looking for fresh blood in the national side. Both Yousuf and Younis are having run-in with the board as Yousuf has declined to return to the international cricket while Younis Khan, despite revocation of his ban, was snubbed by the PCB from the England tour. However now looking at the remarkable performances of youngsters currently playing for the national side, the board has decided to bring in the young emerging talent.
The selection committee has decided to hand over the captaincy of Pakistan A team during the Lanka tour to the Captain of the Under-19 team, Azeem Ghumman. Opener Khurram Manzoor and Mohammad Irfan have also been included in the squad while various senior players including Faisal Iqbal, Mohammad Hafeez, Misbahul Haq, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasir-Arafat-c98241 failed to make the squad. Surprisingly all these veteran players are included in the list of centrally contracted players of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The selectors preferred the ‘Special Stipend Category’ over the ‘central contract’ as the 15-man squad was picked up from the former category. The Special Stipend Category for the top performers as well as promising players of the Under-19 team domestically.
Aamir Sajjad, Junaid Khan, Naveed Yasin and Asad Shafiq were the top performers in the domestic season, while Hammad Azam and the captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azeem-Ghumman-c1112 were the budding stars of the under-19 circuit.
All-rounder Hammad Azam in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year impressed the team management by scoring 173 runs in 6 matches while losing his wicket only once throughout the tournament. The emerging Under-19 talent is well aware of the opportunity being provided to him and would try to cash it in the best way. Hammad said that even though he was dropped from the World T20, he never gave up the hopes and remained confident that he will be given another chance to prove his skills.
Another pick of the A team, fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tabish-Khan-c92563 also said that he has always been hopeful that his hard work would earn him a place in the top level.
The batsman Aamir Sajjad was a bit distressed for not being picked up for the tour of England but said that he would consider the tour of Sri Lanka another chance to get a place in the senior team and will continue his hard work to make his dream of making the national squad come true.
Mohsin Hassan Khan, shielding committee’s decision of leaving seniors behind said that the seniors have not been ignored rather a chance has been given to the young talent to reveal their capabilities in the tri-nation series staged in Sri Lanka.
“It’s not like we have ignored the senior player. Yet young talent needed to be uncovered and the tri-nation series is very important to reveal the talent so the ball is in their court to prove themselves,” added the chief selector.
