Pakistani cricketers threaten to take legal action against bookmaker Mazhar Majeed
Mazhar Majeed is a sporting agent who has represented many http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricketers in the past to help them sign endorsement deals and contracts. He is the owner of the Croydon Athletic Football Club and also has his own real estate
development company known as Blue Sky Developments. The spot fixing imbroglio first emerged during the fourth Test of Pakistan versus England series at Lords, after a local tabloid, The News of the World, accused the Pakistani players of accepting huge amounts
of money from sports agent Mazhar Majeed in return for bowling no-balls.
In a video released by the tabloid, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 was shown piling 150,000 pounds on his table to be paid to the Pakistan cricketers in return for bowling no-balls. The three cricketers alleged for spot fixing have since been provisionally
suspended by the ICC. However recently another video of Mazhar Majeed has emerged where he has gone on to name four more Pakistan players involved with him.
Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz and Imran Farhat have decided to sue the bookmaker Mazhar Majeed for this ‘apparent’ mudslinging, however they did not mention when their lawyers would file cases against the alleged bookmaker.
"Majeed was just my agent and nothing more and for him to try to taint my name and reputation is not acceptable to me. I have consulted with my family and friends and they all support a legal suit against Majeed," Kamran told the
media.
Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz and Imran Farhat have also decided that they would send Majeed legal notices for alleged defamation.
"I have started consultations with my lawyers and pretty soon we will be sending him a notice. Either he has to apologise unconditionally and withdraw his statement or face a suit. Such statements by Majeed have already caused
great damage to the image of Pakistan cricket and the players and we need to do something about it now," Kamran said.
Kamran Akmal believes that his reputation has been considerably tarnished due to these allegations. Akmal has been left out of the squad for the tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and the selectors have not explained why he has been left out.
The four players have not said when they would be sending their notices, whereas the whereabouts of Mazhar Majeed continue to remain a mystery.
