Pakistan favourites to win the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, feels Basit Ali – Cricket News Update
Former Test cricketer, Basit Ali, believes that Pakistan should win the One Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka without much of a trouble because of an extra-ordinary bowling attack, which can trouble any batting line-up of the world.
The Green Shirts defeated Sri Lanka in the first ODI at Pallekele comprehensively by six wickets and looked a far superior team as compared to their counterparts.
The pitch for the first ODI was heavily in favour of the seam bowlers as the ball was moving off the pitch as well as in the air. On top of that, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 committed suicide by opting to bat first in such conditions as his batsmen failed to respond
and the whole team only managed 135 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 42 overs.
Talking to Pakpassion, the former cricketer expressed that it is never easy to beat Sri Lanka on their home turf but the Green Shirts have a massive advantage because of their bowling attack.
He said, "Sri Lanka have a balanced squad and quite a dangerous team in their own back yard, but I feel http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 have the edge because of their variety in their bowling."
However, Basit thinks that Pakistan should reconsider their playing XI because their batting looked very thin in the first ODI. He urged the selectors to play an additional batsman in the second match, which is scheduled to be played tomorrow at the same
venue.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Sami-c77289, who has made a comeback to the national team, impressed with a three-wicket haul at Pallekele and justified his selection. Basit further added that if Misbah ul Haq and company decide to go in with a seamer short, left-arm fast bowler, Sohail
Tanvir should be the one to make way, instead of Sami.
“The Pakistan batting is not very strong and it's important to play an extra batsman. Hafeez is a good spinner and should be the 5th bowler. In the fast bowling department, I think Pakistan should go with Gul and Sami. Tanvir has bowled well as well but
I will give Sami preference at this time because of his sheer pace,” the former middle-order batsman added.
