Pakistan government intervenes to ‘help’ tainted trio – Cricket News Update
Once the damage has been done, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 political authorities have come up to provide every type of necessary legal ‘help’ to the three jailed cricketers as the head of the state, Asif Ali Zardari, has directed the interiors minister, Rehman Malik, and Pakistan
Cricket Board (PCB) to equip him with all details of the matter and struggle to save the trio.
Malik has revealed today that the president is not happy with the way the PCB has tackled the crucial issue and wants the offenders to be relieved from the severe punishment that they are bound to bear in London.
The minister has forwarded Zardari’s instructions to the board, asking it to assist the cricketers in returned to action. He has also appealed to Pakistan’s high commissioner in United Kingdom to help settling the issue in the threesome’s favour.
However, despite taking all these measures, Malik has ruled out the possibility that the convicted guys are innocent.
Talking to the media, he said, “The President has directed that he be given a comprehensive report from the Pakistan Cricket Board on the issue and on the sentences given to our players. We cannot rule out the possibility of any of the convicted players
being innocent.”
The government’s late response to the issue has provoked some of the former Pakistani cricketers who suggest that there is no use to cry over spilt milk. They claim that these steps should have been employed at the very outset of the affair.
An ex-skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084, told to the media, “What is the use of seeking report now? What was the government doing when the trial first began in June? Why react now when the damage has been done to Pakistan cricket?"
Remember, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) imposed a five-year ban on the trio in February
2011. Now the British Southwark Crown Court has put them behind the bars.
