Pakistan invited Canada and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 for tri-series – Cricket News Update
After being snubbed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started off its efforts to work on its contingency plans in a bid to end the cricketing drought from the country.
In this regard, the board has invited International Cricket Council’s (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) associate member teams, Afghanistan and Canada, to play a tri-nation series in the near future.
Both countries’ cricketing authorities have responded positively to PCB’s invitation and have signaled their consent for the proposed tour.
“We have received a positive response from both teams. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748 has shown interest in sending their senior team and will shortly send a letter to the PCB in this regard,” told PCB Governing Board member, Amir Nawab.
The tri-nation series is the third initiative being taken by the PCB after the Bangladesh High Court postponed their national team’s tour for four weeks due to security concerns.
Earlier, the chairman PCB, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, had announced the organizing of the second edition of Pakistan’s Champions League, in May, where four foreign domestic level clubs will participate for the first time.
The other prospective step by the board is the initiation of the Pakistan Premier League (PPL). The exciting Twenty20 tournament, has surprisingly received a positive response from its stakeholders, not only within the country but from outside as well, and
is scheduled to take place in October this year.
Several renowned players have already confirmed their participation in the PPL, including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Charles-Lara-c48471.
The board has not yet finalized the schedule of the tri-nation series as the national team is gearing for a tight schedule ahead. Men in Green will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746
in August, and their Twenty20 World Cup campaign, which kicks off in September.
“The plan is in its initial stages but we’re looking to host the teams as soon as possible. Our team has a busy schedule and we’ll see when we can host the event,” said Nawab.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has not seen any international cricket after the 2009 terrifying gunmen attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team bus. The cricket board, however, is making every little effort to convince foreign teams to come and play in Pakistan, aiming to put an
end to the cricketing deadlock.
