Pakistan issues visit visa to Dav Whatmore – Cricket News Update
On the request of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB), the Foreign Office has issued a visit visa to the Australian coach, Dav Whatmore, who is heading to Pakistan to ink a contract with the PCB, as head coach of the team.
According to board authorities, Dav has resigned as head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and is likely to visit Pakistan mid January to finalise all the necessary paperwork, before he formally takes over the position of head coach. His first assignment
is tipped to be the upcoming Asian Cup tournament.
A PCB source revealed that Whatmore is the sole candidate for the high-profile post, which has been vacant since http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 resigned four months ago.
Speaking to the media today, he said, “In principle he is the sole candidate for the position of head coach of the national team and since he has resigned as KKR coach he could well be joining the Pakistan team for the Asia Cup tournament in March in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.”

do not want a foreign coach, as the tragic death of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-Andrew-Woolmer-c85587 is ripe in memory.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rameez-Raja-c2277, the former Pakistani skipper turned commentator, has played a key role in bringing Whatmore on board.
The source revealed, “Until now all negotiations on behalf of the board with Whatmore were carried out by former Test captain Rameez Raja, who is assisting the committee formed by the board to scrutinise, identify, shortlist and recommend the names of potential
coaches to the PCB Chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397.”
