Pakistan jump to fifth in Twenty20 team rankings – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in the one-off Twenty20 match of the series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday, November 29,
2011.
The Men in Green dropped down to number seven in the list after losing quite a few games in the shortest version. They have been doing well in the other two formats, but lost momentum in Twenty20s over the past year.
At the end of 2010, Pakistan toured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 for a complete series and had success in the Test and One Day Internationals (ODIs).
However, the team was unable to win the three match Twenty20 series against the Back Caps, losing it by 2-1.
The 2009 world champions then lost to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in the shortest version of the game and as a result dropped down to seventh in the rankings.
This was a shocking news for the Pakistan skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, who was earlier quite worried about the current position of the team.
The 37-year-old had claimed last month, “We've spoken about it as well. All the players have quite a lot of concern about it. All the players want to do well. We've lost quite a few of our last T20s, so all the players felt it and their thinking is that
they need to improve it now.”
He further added, “Next time we play a T20, our approach will be that this is a format that we have done really well in, it's a format that we've played a lot, and our performances in the three World T20s, runner-up, winner, then semis, we want to bring
that ranking back.”
This was exactly what happened, as the Pakistani side won three back to back Twenty20 matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and now Bangladesh.
Misbah and his men have now improved to number five and will aim to continue their winning momentum. They are now behind http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, who are top four at the moment.
Winners of the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is sixth.
