Pakistan likely to host foreign teams next year, says Zaka Ashraf – Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) chairman, Zaka Ashraf, has shown immense confidence over the resumption of International cricket in the country, which is absent since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team on March,
3, 2009.
Foreign teams have been reluctant to tour Pakistan following the uncertain security situation in the country.
The governing body of cricket in Pakistan is trying its best to convince the international sides to visit Pakistan. Meanwhile, PCB has not been receiving positive response in this regard in the recent past.
However, Ashraf, who was recently appointed as PCB’s chairman, claimed that Pakistan is all set to host foreign sides next year.
“I am looking forward to seeing the revival of international cricket in Pakistan in 2012,” he revealed while talking to the media.
PCB’s chairman asserted that he is trying his best to resume cricket in the country at its earliest.
“Bringing back international cricket to Pakistan remains one of my main priorities,” PCB’s boss expressed.
He also revealed that they are in contact with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in order to host their national side in Pakistan.
Moreover, Ashraf, who seems very passionate to see cricket return to Pakistan, expressed hope that India will accept their offer.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 till recently had reservations about touring Pakistan due to the conditions. But I would like to see the Indians respond in a positive manner to our offer,” he continued.
In the meanwhile, PCB’s head showed his heartfelt desire that Pakistan's national side should play on its home ground, which will help the team maintain its strong performance.
“It is good that our team is presently doing well and producing positive results, but it is equally important that they play at home in front of their people and supporters,” Ashraf cited.
Furthermore, he denied that PCB is going to support the Bangladeshi candidate for International Cricket Council’s (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 next year.
“If we are allowing Bangladesh to nominate their candidate, it is because they deserve this. There is no deal involved in this,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 stated.
