Pakistan may play seven T20s against Australia in UAE – Cricket News Update
The Green Shirts may play seven T20 internationals against Australia in August this year, in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is facing a lot of problems to arrange any other venue for its home series.
Since March 2009, no international cricket has been played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 because of the terrorist-attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore. The Green Shirts have been playing all their games away from home and PCB has opted for other countries such
as UAE and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749.
The limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Premier League, which will be
played in the same dates.
Previously, PCB did not consider UAE as the venue because of the hot weather and Ramzan. However, the cricket officials in UAE have proposed a full-fledge T20 series, which is a viable option, as the matches will be played at night under flood-lights, when
the temperature will be better as compared to the scorching heat of the desert.
Subhan Ahmed, the Chief Operating Officer of PCB, revealed that the board is considering the proposal.
"The proposal to have a series of T20 matches is viable and we are looking at it but first of all we need to have clearance from the International Cricket Council to organise such a large number of T20 internationals," he said.
However, PCB has not finalised anything and may opt for any other country for the series. Subhan feels that the series is likely to produce a lot of financial benefit for the board.
"It is a proposal that can be explored but at the same time, we are studying other alternate venues for the series, including http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malaysia-c2949. This is a high profile series and we want to earn something from it. It is a difficult situation for us because
of the teams refusing to play in Pakistan," he added.
The matches against Australia are very important for Pakistan as it will be a great preparation for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012.
