Pakistan name Akhtar and Asif for Champs Trophy??..Your views?...?

I have just read Pakistan have named Shoaib Akhtar and also Mohammad Asif to be included in their line up for the Champions Trophy in September..http://au.sports.yahoo.com/cricket/news/article/-/4779998/shoaib-asif-champions-trophy-preliminary-squad

What do you think of this??..

Do You think they should be alowed to play??...

It's just not surprising that either of these are going.

I wonder what it would take for a player to be left out of the team. Murder?

Let ICC and PCB do their job in this matter. Let us not get into their area of work.

But then, can Pakistan win without Akhtar and Asif ? is the question that we can debate.

Akhtar is an asset for a ODI team. In the last 5 matches he played, he took 11 wickets for 226 runs in 282 balls. My computer gives this performance 69.3% marks.

Asif played 14 matches in the same period, took 17 wickets for 636 runs in 683 balls. I give this performance 44.6% marks.

The complete listing of performances as per my computer in respect of Pakistani bowlers' current form in ODIs is given below:

No don't agree with this at all.

Both have been in trouble for drugs,Akhtar has just wormed his way out of a 5 year ban.Asif has just been found with drugs on him..

What are the PCB doing about that?..

I think it is disgraceful that Pakistan can allow these 2 to be named in their 30..

They have proven they can win with out them,what is their problem?..

Not setting a good example for Pakistan children at all,it is teaching them you can take drugs,do the wrong thing but still play for Pakistan..

Totally wrong! What I want to know, is why are ICC not acting on this? Aren't they there for a reason? PCB should be kicked to the kerb

Both Aktar and Asif were the frontline bowlers for Pakistan.  Hence there is nothing wrong in including them in the list of probables.  However, if they do not perform to their potential, they will be dropped from the playing 11.

This is the worst news that i will hear today. PCB is way too lenient against thier senior players!! If an Australian player lets say for example did what these players did, they would've surely got banned from playing international cricket for life!! It is as though the players on the sub-continent are above the law!! And i dont like it.

Pakistan will now be a stronger team no doubt about it. They will perform better with these two players and they will more matches. But bringing Asif and Akthar back in the team isn't the right thing to do!

It's just the normal sporting arena. Pakistan acts tough on drugs but when its best players are found with drugs, it's okay for them. Isn't that hypocritical?

Basically it says that if you want to take drugs, become a really good cricketer and then no one cares!

Pakistan can win without them. Yet they insist on breaking their tough stance to help themselves. Sport needs to learn how to punish drug takers, wheter they are good or bad at playing their sport.

Pakistan Board has made the whole issue a Joke. They ban Akhtar and when they loose they call him back, same thing is going with Asif, he was guilty for carrying drugs but he is free to play. They banned him for a year before then lift the ban. I think ICC needs to step in specially in Asif case before WADA takes any action against Pakistan Board and ICC
