http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 from September 26 to October 7.
Majority of the players in the squad that won tri-nation women's one-day series in Ireland last week have been retained in the touring party, to be skippered by right-arm leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sana-Mir-c88459. Syeda Nain Fatima Abidi, who scored a maiden
century for her country against Ireland last week, has been named as Sana’s deputy for the mega event.
The Pakistan selectors have made only two changes to the victorious squad. Rookie fast bowler Javeria http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Masooma-Junaid-c75035, while Sumaiya Siddiqi, who was placed in the pool of reserved
players for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 tour, comes in for Rabiya Shah.
Pakistan team faced a group stage exit in the 2010 World T20 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. However, team coach Ayesha Ashar has said that they are an improved side and would look to capitalise on their recent successes, come the tournament opener
against England, on September 27.
“We're an improved side. A review of our performance will show that the graph has gone up. We've defeated teams like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and West Indies, which seemed a far cry in the past,”
The Express Tribune quoted Ashar, as saying.
“Our team is now balanced ... Our players are upbeat after winning the tri-series and they're eyeing the World Twenty20 title,” she added further.
The Pakistan coach hoped the recent tour of Ireland would help players in the marquee tournament.
“This tour has helped us a lot. The conditions in Ireland are very difficult in comparison to Sri Lanka. We will also be up against our World T20 group sides, England and the West Indies, later this week,” she added.
Asian Champions Pakistan have been drafted in Group A alongside defending champions http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, in the eight-team tournament. The Women in Green will kick-start their campaign against their English compatriots in Galle,
on September 27.
