Pakistan need a solid plan before leaving for India – Opinion
With India and Pakistan all set to resume their cricket ties, Pakistan are certainly going into the match as underdogs because of their unpredictable bowling and meagre batting line-up.
While on the other side, India who have had a tough Test series against a very phenomenal English side are without a doubt the favourites for this two T20 and three ODI series.
Since losing to each other is unacceptable on both sides of the border, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to leave no stone unturned, naming former middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Inzamam-ul-Haq-c64383 as a batting consultant for the national team.
The big question here is that in the presence of head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davenell-Frederick-Whatmore-c52571, why was there a need to call Haq for the job.
There is no shame in admitting that while Inzi was an outstanding batsman, he was an average skipper with 52 wins and 33 losses in 89 ODIs.
His batting style was orthodox which would make it quite difficult for youngsters to absorb his style once he takes up his job.
A statement released by the PCB regarding his appointment, said:
“We have engaged the services of Inzamam ahead of the India tour. He won't travel to India with the team but will help the batsmen in the camp as batting consultant. He will part of the touring unit that goes next year to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.”
With almost a new look squad named for the tour, Pakistan are perhaps taking a big risk, as they needed to have some veteran players in the team to handle the pressure of playing against the arch rivals.
An average Pakistani is still wondering why Shahid Afridi and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 were axed from the team, While some might argue that these players are past their prime, there is no denying the fact that they still hold a psychosocial pressure on their opponents.
An Afridi-less http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 would give the Indians a tad more confidence which could have sever repercussions for the Men in Green.
Inzi, who has played alongside Afridi during his international years, might also be surprised by the board’s decision to let the team fly off to India without the flamboyant all-rounder.
The PCB is, in their own way, trying hard to prepare their boys for the big bash as it has been learned that they even hired a Psychologist to work with the players before the series.
"Psychologist Maqbool Babri has also been signed up to help motivate the players for the challenging [India] tour," said an official of the PCB.
Pakistan are expecting too much from ODI skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 enough times to be in a position to handle the pressure.
Although the selection of the team for this tour is questionable, the PCB – in all its wisdom – has named the following players for the ODIs and T20s.
ODI squad: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anwar-Ali-c45231, Zulfiqar Babar.
Twenty20 squad: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Shehzad-c42359.
