Pakistan need to play their natural game against India, or may be not – Opinion
These days the Indian and Pakistan sports media is all about the highly anticipated upcoming T20 and ODI series between the two rival nations after a hiatus of almost five years. While India is busy with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 where after losing the four-match Test series
to their guests, they now are seeking some redemption.
Meanwhile, for Pakistan things are a bit too exciting to be the least, as everyone wants to chip in and express his/her views about the outcome of the series.
Obviously folks in Pakistan want their boys to win and some are having a blind faith in their team. However, if emotions were allowed to judge the outcomes in the sporting world, then I doubt we would ever see a home side lose.
The fact is that those sides who are realistic in their preparations, prove stronger on the ground. While those who linger in past glories or are too blinded to see the other team being better prepared end up on the losing end.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) has left no stone unturned in preparing their boys for the big encounter, however, since the T20s will come first, let us tell you that Pakistan out of their three matches against India so far have never beaten their rivals.
The Indians clearly out rank their neighbours in this format.
Nonetheless, records are meant to be challenged and broken, so while Pakistan would be aiming to better their T20 history before the end of this year, there is no doubt that they need to go in with some proper homework.
History has shown that Pakistani players usually take just too much pressure while playing against India which usually costs them.
Indians on the other hand, have proved to be mentally stronger and more focussed when it comes to playing pressure games.
Interestingly, Pakistan are way ahead in the ODI and Test records, where they lead http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 by 69-48 in the ODIs and 12-9 in the Tests.
Still, the Men in Green’s recent form is least encouraging where they lack the fiery bowling attack they gloated about in the past, and for once in their cricketing history they have landed in India relying on their spinners to get them through instead of
their pacers.
Then there is the unpredictable batting, which just cannot be trusted as on their day they can chase down 400 runs, but on others they cannot even go after targets of around 150 runs.
Recently the PCB called in former top-order great http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Inzamam-ul-Haq-c64383 to give the batsmen some tips of playing against India, and ironically they were advised to play their natural game.
As a big fan for the sport, the moment I read his remarks my mind screamed “what are you thinking Inzi”, because let us not be judgmental but Pakistan haven’t been their best when they play their natural game. They need to calculate and time their game against
the Indians in order to make any impact or else India will surely overpower their guests (at least in the T20s).
Pakistan need to avoid playing their emotion charged natural game which would be pivotal for their success behind enemy lines.
