Pakistan not likely to make massive changes in T20 squad before the World Cup – Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not expected to make massive changes in the team for the upcoming http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Iqbal-Qasim-c76980 is positive about his team’s chances in the mega event.
The board made some drastic changes in the team for the shorter formats of the game last month, which saw Misbah ul Haq replaced by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 as the skipper, alongside the inclusion of a number of youngsters.
However, the selectors have faced criticism, as many believe that the team combination should not have been disturbed before such an important tournament.
Pakistan drew the two-match T20 series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 earlier this month but their performance and Hafeez's leadership raised many questions.
Qasim, while speaking to Pakpassion, said that the side will not see any further changes since the all-important event is just around the corner. The former left-armer also expressed his satisfaction with the young side's performance in Sri Lanka.
He believes, “I think it’s too late to experiment now ahead of the T20 World Cup and I would expect that most of the personnel in the T20 squad in Sri Lanka recently will be retained. I don’t think we should panic in this format and make major adjustments
to the T20 squad.”
The Green Shirts are the only team in the world to have qualified for the semi finals of all three T20 World Cups played so far, and went on to win the second edition, held in 2009.
The chief selector is hopeful that his team will deliver the goods once again and claimed that the team was united and set to perform at its best.
“I’m very hopeful and confident that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 can perform well at the T20 World Cup. I’m optimistic as when the Pakistan team is “together” and in form they can defeat anybody on their day,” the former left-arm spinner added.
The Men in Green are expected to play three T20s in either http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malaysia-c2949 before the illustrious event begins.
