Pakistan players upset with the PCB – Cricket News Update
Various Pakistani cricket players are reportedly dissatisfied with the Pakistan Cricket Board for having refused to allow them to play a match in Toronto, for which they had already verbally sought the permission of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380, the board’s international
cricket operations director.
Players including skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 had spoken to Alam regarding their participation in an exhibition T20 to be held in Toronto on May 12, and the director had granted them verbal reassurance. However, since the
players did not formally seek written permission, a question mark now looms over the prospect of their participation in the event.
“Now it has transpired that since none of the players have applied for NOCs in writing from the Board and have neither submitted details of the organisers and the match, the PCB says it cannot give permission,” explained an official.
“Even if Intikhab gave them permission verbally, the board can’t act without having something in writing. None of the players have bothered to seek permission or NOC in writing from the relevant authorities in the board so how do they expect to get permission,”
he further added.
Busy with a commercial shoot in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thailand-c3020, Misbah and Afridi were unable to send a written request for permission to the board, and assumed that the director’s verbal reassurance would be enough. However, rules dictate that players may not confirm their participation
in any match or sign a deal with any foreign club without obtaining an NOC from the PCB. The procedure was also followed by players who participated in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Premier League earlier this year.
In addition to the disappointment of the players, the organizers of the match, who had advertised the appearances of players such as Misbah, Afridi, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898, Saeed Ajmal, and Hammad Azam, have also expressed dismay with the recent turn
of events, which could lead them to face substantial financial losses.
The refusal may add to the frustration of players who find themselves excluded from the ongoing Indian Premier League, which has not placed Pakistan players up for auction ever since the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 terrorist attacks in 2008 threw the diplomatic relations between
Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
The board official, however, added that while the PCB would be willing to grant permission if the players applied even now, the board might be reluctant owing to the national camp which is scheduled to take place on May 12, for the upcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758
due to kick off on June 1.
