Pakistan prepare tough line-up for Asia Pacific Seniors Golf Championship 2010
The Asia Pacific Seniors Golf Championship 2010 is scheduled to be played from the 24th of November to the 26th of November. The event includes a number of senior golfers and tough combatants lined-up from the Pakistani side.
The Pakistan Golf Federation held a three day trial, which was carried out at the Garrison Golf Course. The selection announcement was made on Monday and includes 6 top ranked players from Pakistan heading towards Bangkok.
Among those who made it through the qualifying rounds, Colonel M.Shafi (Retd) was at the zenith of the leader boards. The other five players representing Pakistan at the Seniors Golf Championship are Brigadier Nayyar Afzal, Shafiq Bhatti, Abdul Haq, Abdul
Qayum Rashid and Taimur Hassan. These golfers make from Rawalpindi, Gymkhana, Peshawar, Punjab Police and Islamabad. Colonel M.Shafi (Retd) entered the trial from Garrison.
Brig (retd) Nayyar Afzal has formerly played the role as a manager for his team at the 123rd Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship. The golfer from Rawalpindi appeared at the Royal Colombo Golf club held from July 26 to July 29. Countries that participated
in this tournament were India and Bangladesh besides the hosts Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The selection was tough and had many hopefuls competing in the trial. Among the star achievers who weren’t able to qualify, names like Fasih Ali Anwar, Shoaib Bokhari, Colonel Saud Khan, M.Azam Khan, Javed Khan and Colonel M.Safi appeared in the news.
The well-known Shoaib Bokhari had been unlucky in the assortment process as his last hole swapped his whole fixture wayward. Bokhari carded a triple bogey at the last hole of the trial and was hence dropped out.
While the men’s team had (Retd) Colonel Shafi topping the boards, the women side was topped by Nushmiya Sukhera. The ladies team selection was also held at the Garrison Golf Course and had the female golfer from Lahore Gymkhana emerging as the top golfer representing
Pakistan.
The boy’s category-1 selection was also undertaken that placed Mubraiz Ahmed from Karachi as the lucky particular.
From those who want to know who appeared at the Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship, Muhammad Ali Hai and Muhammad Safdar represented Pakistan where Hai had been extremely famous for his strong drives and spot-on putts. From the ladies side, Ghazala Yasmin
and Mrs. Tahira Nazir from Lahore and Rawalpindi made their mark.
From the category-2, Aman Tariq from Islamabad made it to the starry squad.
