http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752 after a tentative start - ICC World Cup 2011
Pakistan amassed 317 runs in their opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 against Kenya. The match is under progress at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
The wicket was not one of the best batting tracks in Sri Lanka as it didn’t have pace in it. The captain winning the toss was expected to bat first and that is exactly what http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 did.
However, the decision didn’t look ideal as openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Shehzad-c956 struggled a lot in the first hour of the match. Hafeez was the first man to be dismissed after scoring just 9 runs off 20 balls. Shehzad was unable to find the gaps as well,
and the promising youngster faced 18 balls for his one run before getting out. After seven overs of play, Pakistan had scored just 12 runs for the loss of both their openers.
It seemed as if this match would be a low scoring encounter. However, the first-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 came together at the crease and rescued their team from trouble. They didn’t take too many risks but managed to lift the run-rate significantly. Kamran
struck a few boundaries while Younis continued to rotate the strike over to him. The pair complemented each other nicely for a 98-run partnership.
Kamran was dismissed after scoring a terrific 55 runs off 67 balls in the 25th over and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 joined Younis, who completed his half-century. However, he failed to carry on and get a big score. He was out after scoring 50 runs off 67 balls,
in an attempt to play his favourite sweep shot.
Pakistan were 155 for four in 33.4 overs and it looked as if anything between 245 and 270 would be the target for the African team. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 and Misbah smashed the ball to all corners of the park, and constructed a 100-run partnership in just
72 balls.
Misbah got out after playing a brilliant innings of 65 from 69 balls, while Umar played a blistering knock of 71 off 52 balls. Pakistan were also helped by 46 extras conceded by the Kenyan bowlers.
The attack bowlers were good for Kenya as they started the innings well for their team. Thomas Odoyo was the pick of bowlers as he took three wickets for his team. Kenya should make sure that they try and bat out their 50 overs and score as many runs as
possible.
