Pakistan should go with two spinners on the flat tracks of UAE, says Iqbal Qasim – Cricket News Update
Former Chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 and Abdur Rehman.
The first Test of the series at Abu Dhabi ended without result, despite the fact that Pakistan controlled the game for the initial three days of the match. However, some defensive tactics and poor fielding led to a draw, which is surely a moral victory for
the Sri Lankan team.
The cricket analysts around the world have also slammed the pitches in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033, which are heavily in favour of batsman and unlike an ideal Test pitch which supports the fast bowlers, spinners and the batsmen as well.
Qasim admits that the pitches are flat but the bowlers desperately need the fielders to hold on to the chances and unfortunately for Pakistan, this was not the case in the first match. The former left-arm spinner feels that the team which fields well has
a better chance of dismantling the opposition.
The former Test cricketer said, “Pakistan needs to improve its fielding for the second test. Wickets are batting friendly and Pakistani fielders need to support the bowlers. Whichever team will avail the chances, will have a better chance to win.”
Because of the nature of the pitches in UAE, Qasim believes that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691 did not play the first match and it remains to be seen if he finds a place in the playing eleven for the second match or not.
“I feel Pakistan should go with two specialist spinners. Pitches are batting friendly and you have to stay on the field for long periods, two specialist spinners can share the responsibility to bowl long spells,” believes Qasim.
While referring to the droped catches in slips, the former cricketer from Karachi further added that there should be specialist fielders in the slip cordon.
“Slip fielding is one of the toughest places to field and it’s always better if specialised fielders field in that position,” he added.
